Acordarnos:
Remembering As Political Action in the Borderlands

Installation, 2016

Acordarnos

Acordarnos (“to bring to our memory”) is a hybrid durational performance piece and art installation exploring layers of memory present at the current US-Mexico border. Legal documents, interviews, photographs and maps are collaged together with live mixing of video projections and bilingual spoken word as an act of defiance against colonial amnesia. Incorporating both land-based indigenous perspectives and political fear-mongering, the piece is a subversion of both the militarized border line and the conventional historical timeline, revealing the complexities, paradoxes and deeper meanings of the border space.
