Ladies and lovlies, Gentlemen and lovers,

Hello from the Independent Breakaway Republic of San Francisco, where we’ve received the warmest of strange welcomes from the lovely people out this way. Playing the Kinetic Poetics Festival at UC Santa Cruz was loco, loco. Check out these amazing new fotos by Ariana Perez. Cultural experiences abound: Moi enters a US bank and is surprised not to see the tellers hiding behind bulletproof glass; Adam splurges on Hemp Plus cereal and is happy for days; Logan falls in collective love with all four members of the Spilljoy Ensemble. Danceparties.

Since Santa Cruz we’ve been hanging low in the Mission and SoMa, going to galleries, drinking atole con café, forming alliances and nerding out. Most important: we’re playing a very, very unique show this Sunday night at a warehouse in San Francisco. A collaboration with our friends Bad Unkl Sista, this is not one to be missed. New costuming, new pieces, Sonidero / spoken video combination, DJ Emtron presente. Let people know.

But for those of you who can’t make it, we haven’t forgotten you! New virtual goodies abound! First up, the product of several 5am benders by dirtyverbs and doctór terán: brand new website! ¡VERBOBALA.COM 2009! We’re still twerking some details & upping new content, but give us some feedback.

we greet you from smoggy and energetic Mexico City. The green VW bugs are busy in their scurry across the city, knowing that their days are numbered (they’ll be replaced by 2011). Art is everywhere: digital storytelling in the subway, dubstep in the bars, poetry in the newspapers.

We’ve set up a studio here in Coyoacán, where we’re getting set for the second half of the Mexico tour. A lot has happened lately.

First off, we’d like to introduce you to Emtron, a DJ friend from Logan’s Flagstaff days who will be with us on tour in Mexico. We have a number of “Sonidero Verbobala” shows lined up... for those of you who haven’t seen the craziness yet, Sonidero Verbobala is our party side project. Cumbia ‘n bass, balkan horns, ritmo and visuals. Logan (DJ / MC), Moi (DJ / MC / VJ) and Adam (VJ / mysticism) in full fiesta action. We’ll have a mixtape online soon. Emtron will be laying down the vinyl goodness with us in Cholula and again in Mexico City where we play on the 8th with Ruth’s Selecta.

Then on Saturday, October 11th we’ll be closing the 4th annual Poesía.en.Voz.Alta festival at UNAM (Mexico’s national university) Casa del Lago in Chapultepec (Mexico City’s Central Park). We’re very excited about this. The festival is the largest of its kind in Mexico, and when we played last year we were blown away by the audience’s response. This year we’ve prepared several new spoken video pieces specifically for the festival, it just might be the biggest show we’ve done yet. Buy a plane ticket and come for the weekend!

Hello from chilly Boston, where we’re rounding out the final dates of the first US tour. This is our first time as a group in Boston and NYC, we’re excited to be here, especially since we’ll be playing two big venues with very cool friends: the beautiful Coolidge Corner Theater and the infamous Bowery Poetry Club. Beautiful Jme Caroline will be with us at both, and the one and only Patricia Smith will help us with the grand finale in NYC. All the info is below. We don’t know many people out this way, so we’d appreciate it if you could pass this email along to your east coast cuates.

Texas was insanity. We played some very cool shows, including a 60 ton, three story tall, structurally sound Cathedral of Junk in Austin with Show Me Tiger! There was also “Palabrazos 08″ with Tammy Gómez in Ft. Worth (killer crowd!), a great backyard in San Anto with Anthony Flores, and others. Logan also did some solo feature performances at slams, and there’s a whole slew of video from that now on YouTube (¡saludos a Stacio y Becky!). Video from the VSV performances will be online this summer.

We’re not sure what the rest of the year will hold for us. We’re taking the summer off from VSV. Adam is headed up to Nanaimo in Canada to do camera work on a documentary, Logan is disappearing into centroamérica with a blank notebook, and Moi will be finishing his thesis project on DIY art spaces in Cuernavaca. Then in August we’ll be getting a house in Hermosillo to jam on new material. Verbocasa. September will probably see us tour Mexico, then later in the year we may be in the UK.
